Leicestershire County Council has made £12,500 available for community projects in the Valley Community Forum area. Want a share? This is your voice, your choice!
You can participate throughout the process:
• Apply for funding for your community
Put a funding proposal (up to £5,000) forward by 9th May for a community project that will benefit the local area.

• View and comment on projects in the local area
From 10th May, you can see what projects have been put forward for your local Forum area and provide comments and suggestions. More »

• Vote for your favourite projects
Book your place at the Community Forum Budget Decision Night on 30th May, 6-9pm to discuss projects and vote for your favourites. (Booking starts on 10th May. Limited spaces available)

Leicestershire County Council Budget Proposals

On Tuesday 17th January 2012, the County Council's Cabinet met to discuss budget proposals for the next four years and launch a consultation with residents and key stakeholders.

You are invited to view the summary document and comment on the proposals by visiting www.leics.gov.uk/budgetconsultation

The consultation period runs until Tuesday 31st January 2012.

A summary of the consultation responses will be available on our website and the results will be considered by the Cabinet in February, before the full County Council takes a final decision on the budget on 22nd February.

Funding Advice Fair

Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) will be holding a Funders Fair on:

Wednesday 25th January 2012, 11 .00am to 3.00pm
at Margaret Street Church, Margaret Street, Coalville LE67 3LY

VAL have invited a range of Local and National Funders and Trusts to come along to provide advice, information and guidance around a variety of grants and funding, which will be of interest to VCS organisations.

The organisations/funders which will be in attendance are:
•Big Lottery
•Lloyds TSB
•Hands On Youth Support Service (HOYSS)
•Positive Activities for Young People fund (PAYP) NWL
•Big Society Grant Fund
•Respect Fund (NWLDC)
•Children in Need
•Coalfields Regeneration Trust (NWL)

We are also providing four, 30 minute workshops during the day from various funders, as follows:

Valley - Cash For Your Community - The Results Are In!

Valley Community Forum Budgeting Workshop
Leicestershire County Council has made funds available to all 25 Community Forums in the county.
The Valley Community Forum had £12,500 available per year for local communities to invest in local improvements of their choice.
How did local communities get involved?
Ten local groups and organisations requested a share of the £12,500 allocated to the Valley Community Forum area, with projects ranging from outdoor play equipment to the purchase of a tables and chairs for a village hall and delivery of a local music festival. By sending in project proposal forms prior to the workshop, other local residents and organisations were able to view & comment on submitted Project Proposals via the website, and make suggestions on how the projects could be further improved or developed.
The Valley Community Forum Budget Workshop, took place on 16th November, where projects were discussed in detail, and all present were able to vote on their favourite projects.

Valley Community Forum Budgeting Workshop

Leicestershire County Council has made funds available to all 25 Community Forums in the county.

The Valley forum will have £12,500k available per year for local communities to invest in local improvements of their choice.

We are looking for projects that can be delivered between January and the end of June 2012.

How can local communities get involved?

If you have a bright idea on how £12,500 can improve your local area, you can put forward a project proposal via our website. For more information, please click here by 28th October 2011. More »

From 31st October you can check our website to view & comment on submitted Project Proposals and make suggestions on how the projects could be further improved or developed.

You can attend the Valley Community Forum Budget Workshop, scheduled for 16th November (6.30-9pm, venue tbc), where you can hear from all projects, discuss some projects in more detail and vote for your favourite projects.

PLEASE NOTE: Workshop spaces are limited and booking is essential. Registration opens on 31st October and will be on a first come, first served basis. You can register by clicking here or by calling 0116 3057034.

Big crowds expected at this years fireworks event!
Oak FM presenters with Oakey Bear will be entertaining the crowds at the LOROS Hospice Charity Fireworks Spectacular on Saturday 5th November at Mallory Park race track. The Kirkby Mallory skies will be transformed with thousands of Fireworks, this great event, will captivate both children and adults alike.

Free onsite parking will open at 5.30pm, with professional singer Molly Smitten Downes, over 100 stunt Trucks, and Oak fm, and other amazing entertainment at 6:30pm, the Bonfire will be lit at 7:30pm, followed by the firework display at 8:00pm. More »

As well as a huge bonfire and impressive fireworks on the night there also be a fairground, stalls, food and a bar guaranteed to make a fantastic night of family fun.

To skip the queues the organisers would recommend purchasing advance tickets (Adults £4.00, concessions £2.50 and family tickets £12.50) available from all local LOROS shops, Edmund and Slater shops, The Mallory Park and Kirkby Mallory General Store.
