Community Enterprise Fund: Would you like your Post Office to support a community scheme?

Post Office branches in England (excluding Crown branches) can now apply to receive up to £10,000 to support a new scheme or service for their local community.
These could include:
•Classes in key skills such as reading, languages or the Internet
•Mentoring and advice service for local small businesses, or display space for local producers
•Partnership with a local charity to provide a meeting space, notice board and other forms of support
•A hub or meeting space for community groups involved in local issues, such as neighbourhood planning
If you have an idea you'd like your Post Office to support, download and print the PDF, write down your idea, take it into your Post Office and have a conversation with the sub-postmaster or branch manager about what you could do together to benefit the local community.
Sub-postmasters can find out more including how to apply on subspaceonline.co.uk. Deadline for applications is Friday 18 October 2013.
The Fund is a result of a partnership between the Department for Communities and Local Government and Post Office Ltd. It is limited to supporting a maximum of 20 schemes across the country (England only) in 2013/14.
Winning bids will be selected by a panel compromising Post Office Ltd, Department for Communities and Local Government, and others. Judging will take place in autumn with the successful schemes announced shortly after.

Community Litter Pick

The Community Litter Pick was a great success thanks to all who participated.

"CASTLE DONINGTON SPRING CLEAN"

'Spring Clean' in Castle Donington (29 June 2013) resulted in over 80 bin liner bags of rubbish being picked up. Great job, well done – the first of many.

"Well done and thanks to all those who participated".

A real sense of pride was felt by those who participated. Thanks to the Cadets and local residents for their help and support. A small amount of time given has made such a difference in the community that they live in! You should all be proud: thanks to everyone who took part. More »

Let's hope that this is just a start and that next time we will see more people wanting to take pride and join in such a green initiative.

Quote from one of the young people: "Mess creates mess, a cleaner street promotes a sense of pride and the less likelihood that someone will make a mess" – What a
true comment!

An area that looks good will suffer less and will actually thrive and blossom. Let's take the opportunity and
pride and look after our thriving and clean community. » Less

Have your say on how you want to shape your community in the future

A number of years ago, a full Parish Plan Survey was undertaken collecting evidence to be used to help facilitate and gauge the needs and desires of the local parishioners; now the Parish Council is undertaking a shortened review of this using a slightly different format through SurveyMonkey.

However, the Parish Council will be running various sessions, and you can pop in to the office at anytime, to complete the questionnaire with people who do not have access to a computer or are not computer literate. More »
